Greenwood/Ballard resident Jean M. McCarty passed away on February 7, 2008. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 58 years, Art (who died this previous November), her daughter Carol (died in July 1997), and her sister, Gloria. She is survived by her granddaughter Tammy, Tammy's husband Bret, and great-grandchildren Tony, Charlie, Sam and Savannah. Also surviving are several cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, February 16, at Columbia Lutheran Home at 4700 Phinney Ave. N. 98103.

November 27, 1942 - January 30, 2008

Our father always had a strong attraction to Ballard. He played football with the Ballard Boys Club and baseball with the Little League. He attended Ballard High School, from 1956 - 1959. From the mid 60's to early 70's he owned the "First Addition" tavern in Greenwood. He was a member of the Seattle Inboard Racing Association from the 1962 - 1980. He is survived by his three children - Stacey, Mike and Peggy (Milan) and three grand children Joshua, Robert and Nickolai.

Gary passed away at home with his wife of 54 years, Carole, daughter, Dawn Johnson and son, Brian Christensen at his bedside.

Gary was born in Omaha, Neb. and moved to Ballard in 1948. After graduating Ballard High in 1952 He attended OC/PSNS engineering/training program in Bremerton where he met and married Carole (Winger).

He worked at Boeing for 10 years. He and his father founded "Lortone, Inc." Lapidary Equipment Manufacturing Co. in 1964.

Terry died peacefully at home in Greenwood surrounded by family.

Born in Chicago to Leonard and Dickie Zacharias, his family moved to Seattle when he was four years old. While attending Greenwood Elementary School, he was active in the Boy Scouts of America and delivered the Seattle Times.

April 22, 1925 - January 10, 2008

Age 82, passed away after a long illness. Loving Mother to JoAnn Edgecombe, Gary Blanco and RoxAnn Evans. 9 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.

May 2, 1930 - January 13, 2008

Bert was born in Galesburg, Illinois and lived in Ballard and Camas Washington. Francis B. Crow was a beloved independent man. His accomplishments were Academy (A+), Air Force Corporal.

He became an artist after open-heart surgery. And Francis was legally blind, hearing impaired and lost his leg in December of 2007. He was the winner of Blue, 1st and 2nd Ribbons in VA Statewide Competitions. Bert celebrated 23 years of sobriety and non-smoking.

Age 95, passed on to the Great Spirit, November 24, 2007 on a sunny day in Ballard. Born July 22, 1912 in Big Sky Country.

Beloved wife of over 60 years to Captain Paul Edwards (F/V Guardian). Rosie and Paul made their home in Sitka, Alaska, where she was a supporter of A.N.S. They moved to Ballard in 1960. Rosie and Paul enjoyed many driving trips together, and have lived their remaining years happily in Ballard.

Funeral Services were held at Wiggen and Sons Funeral Home.

June 9, 1936 - November 15, 2007

Palmer Stangvik gently passed away at home, after a brave battle with cancer November 15, 2007, in Napa, California, surrounded by family and friends. He was 71.

Palmer was born to Martin and Inga Stangvik, and grew up in Ballard. He graduated from Ballard High School in 1954 and went on to earn an Education Degree from Seattle Pacific University. He taught nine years in the Snohomish school district before moving to Seattle.

Of Camano Island, formerly of Seattle, died unexpectedly November 2, at the age of 65.

Born to Olga and Richard Davis in 1942, Dixie was raised in Zenith, WA. She began her education at the University of Washington where she joined Delta Delta Delta sorority.
