Is this yet another Answer to a Question no one asked.
Sounds like more frou frou b.s. to me.
"Just" $20 for wine I can probably get at Safeway for $4.95 and a fake French layout.
No thanks.
Hummmnnn: $8 falafels, $9 chicken sandwiches??? Sounds suspiciously UN-French! These are the same guys that also built a humungous rockus singles bar in the West Seattle Junction under the guise of it being authentico Italiano!
I will approach this new cafe with caution, but I swear, if you guys are building another bar with a French facade Ballardites will not be fooled (however, if you can find someone to make an authentic fat Quiche with a cripsy side salad...for say under $10 bucks, I'm there.
I work in Ballard and have been watching this building morph into something pretty impressive. These guys are building a beautiful addition for Ballard and I'm going to welcome them without any pretense. By the way, from what I've heard, Deming Maclise (Cafe Fiore) has no ties with James Weimann's prior business ventures and I think he's got his heart in the right place for Ballard.
Sounds great! Can't wait for it to open!
It just doesn't sound very french to me but will wait and see
I am amazed by peoples negative comments. How can you judge a place prior to an opening.? There is a great middle eastern mix in France with the food. You people need to crawl out of your holes and get some culture. Why not try it out since it has opened. I don't even live in Ballard, but Bastile seems like a great addition to the neighborhood.
Why not check out their website before you all get up in arms about the food - http://www.bastilleseattle.com/
And for the person who says it doesn't sound french,
Bastille Day is the French national holiday, celebrated on 14 July each year.
