Capt. Sig Hansen ('Deadliest Catch') at Leif Erikson Hall

Sig Hansen, the hard-driving captain of the F/V Northwestern of "Deadliest Catch" fame, will talk about and sign copies of his 336-page memoir, "North by Northwestern: A Seafaring Family on Deadly Alaskan Waters."

In his book, the Ballard-born Hansen explores his Norwegian family’s fishing heritage (the Hansen brothers inherited the F/V Northwestern from their father, Sverre), his father’s brush with death when his previous boat caught fire and sank in the Bering Sea, the changing ethnicity of the once solidly Norwegian Ballard neighborhood, and the Ballard hangout that’s a favorite of Seattle crab fishermen.

For those who'd like to skål the good Norwegian captain, Leif Erikson Hall will offer a no-host bar, and sodas will be available for those under 21.
