Si Khan at Phinney Neighborhood Center

The Seattle Folklore Society will host nationally-renown folksinger/songwriter and social justice activist Si Kahn at the Phinney Neighborhood Center.

This tour marks the releases of Si’s 16th CD "Courage" and his book “Creative Community Organizing,” as well as his retirement as the executive director of the national progressive organization Grassroots Leadership, which he founded 30 years ago.

Among his classic songs are “Aragon Mill,” “Gone, Gonna Rise Again” and “Wild Rose of the Mountain,” emerging from his work in the 60s’ civil rights movement, the 70s’ miners’ strike at the Brookside Mine in Kentucky, and the campaign to organize textile workers at J.P. Stevens.

Tickets are $15 (adults), $13 (Seattle Folklore Society and Phinney Neighborhood Association members, seniors), $7 (children)

Tickets can be purchased in advance at www. brownpapertickets.com.
