Volume 9 will feature exciting new plays from all over the country, plus two brand new commissioned works from Seattle writers Kristina Sutherland and Holly Arsenault. As always, Quickies will include tons of up and coming local directors and actors as well as tons of gratuitous entertainment in between the plays. It all adds up to a fantastic not to be missed event.

Saturday, May 31, 7:30 p.m. The Market Street Singers invite you to "Go the Distance," a festival of singing to benefit the Northwest Senior Citizens Center in Ballard. Musical guests include pianist Ingrid Verhulsdonk, tenor Brandon Higa, and sopranos Christine Bell and Natalie Lerch of the Cornish College of the Arts. Also featured will be the Sun-hak International Youth Choir, who will join the Market Street Singers for a rousing choral finale featuring over 60 singers. There will be something for everyone with styles ranging from folk to classical, world music to popular hits. Admission is free, but donations of any size are encouraged.

Saturday, June 7 at 4 p.m. Two video shorts by Ballard High School filmmakers have been selected for FutureWave, a special program of the Seattle International Film Festival, which includes the best of young people's filmmaking from across the country. Included will be "Claudio the Magnificent" by Bridget Berg, Lilah Horwitz, and Will Livesley-O'Neill, and "4th Floor" by Coburn Erskine, Sami Kubo, and Nolan O'Connor.
