Teens with weed nabbed
A group of juveniles were involved a drug related car accident at the intersection of First Avenue Northwest and Northwest 92nd Street on April 18. The driver of the car was arrested for a past charge of driving under the influence. Officers searched a backpack in the car and found 39.7 grams of marijuana, a black pipe and many plastic baggies, along with $356.31. Since the Youth Service Center was unable to accept the teen driver, his father was called to pick him up from the police station. The car had to be towed.
Smelly case of harassment
In case involving a bad odor, a business on 11th Avenue Northwest called 911 to report that urine had been dumped in front of his establishment. "This was the third time that subjects have placed urine and feces on the keypad, front step etc. They had also broken the security camera, all of which were reported to (Seattle Police Department) earlier," said the report. Hours after calling the police, the complainant called 911 again after a bottle of urine was left at the front door.
The complainant told police he suspected harassment from a transient who lived in a nearby motor home. The incidents began after the complainant reported the motor home was abandoned.
Burglar uses dog door
Crawling through a large dog door, a burglar entered a home on 9th Avenue Northwest and stole a digital camera worth $350, a necklace and the ever-popular iPod. The homeowner came home and found the back door wide open. There were no fingerprints.
Too much booze
In a case of "one too many," a Crown Hill bartender refused to serve a semi-regular customer after he drank too much. The woman threatened to come back with a "shotgun," and the bartender should be careful at closing time. Police officers contacted the suspect aboard a fishing boat where he worked as a painter. He denied making threats but admitted to drinking.
French doors welcome thief
A home undergoing renovation 14th Avenue Northwest and is mostly gutted was burglarized. Entry was made through some French doors that were unlocked and secured only with wire. Tools and some copper fittings were taken.
Burglar comes up empty
Over on Sixth Avenue Northwest, a homeowner was away during the weekend of April 18. When he returned, his home, which had been up for sale, with a key box on the front door had been broken into. Nothing in the home appeared missing or disturbed.
Clean entry for thief
With the building secured, an unknown suspect used a key or pass card to enter a business on Shilshole Avenue. Police officers left a follow-up form for the owner to compile a list of stolen items.
School reader board tagged
Adams Elementary School was the target of graffiti vandals last week. The reader board, installed earlier this school year by volunteers was spray painted with the word "LIONS." The damage was estimated at $100. Police interviewed one witness who believed the tagging was part of a school rivalry "gag."
