Wheel chair road rage

Taking a right hand turn in Ballard, a woman realized she might have cut off an elderly female who was in a motorized wheel chair. The elderly person picked up a rock and threw it at the car causing an unlisted amount of damage. The driver went home to report the incident, but officers were unable to locate the suspect. The woman requested that a police report to filed and if the suspect was located, she wanted her to pay for the damage her 2002 Audi.

Tire vandalism frustrates Ballad man

An anonymous Ballard resident called the News-Tribune last week after two of his truck tires were deliberately punctured in the Woodland Park area. He was having dinner at a church. When he came out he got into his 1981 Chevrolet 4 x 4 to drive away and there was a thumping sound. The left front and right rear tires had been stabbed with an ice pick or small knife. "Being a truck, these were real big tires," he said. He called for a tow truck and bought two new tires at a cost of $800. The tow truck driver said all four tires on a PT Cruiser were stolen in the Greenwood area recently. "They picked on my car and left others alone. These kids don't have anything better to do. In June, he called this newspaper to report this Nissan Pathfinder stolen from his driveway. Ten days later it was recovered by police without any damage.

Breaking up hard to do

Around 7 p.m., the employees of a restaurant on Market Street called 911 after a fight started between a man and woman in the bar. Employees tried to detain the man, but he managed to walk out. Police arrived and found the woman crying and intoxicated. The man and woman were a new couple and the woman wanted him to tell his current girlfriend about their plans. He called his girlfriend and put the conversation on the speaker mode. For no reason he then punched the woman. The bartender told police the couple was fighting over the cell phone and the woman was the first one to commit assault.

Stumbling, shoeless intruder

Police officers were sent to a Ballard address after a 19-year-old male entered a home through an unlocked door. The homeowner threw him out. Officers found the suspect staggering in the street. He was unable to make a complete sentence, had slurred speech and stumbled as he walked. His breath smelled like alcohol and he was not wearing a jacket or shoes. The suspect was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Drive-by pellet gun attack

Waiting for the bus on Aurora Avenue late one evening, a woman was reading when she heard a popping sound then a car driving off. She felt pain in back of her left thigh and told police she was shot with a pellet gun.

Don't fall for identity theft

When the phone rang a north Seattle woman answered. The voice said there were some charges on her bank account totaling over $4,000. Thinking she was talking to an actual bank representative, the woman provided her personal and financial information. Later she called the bank and was told they do not request personal information over the phone. By the time she closed her account, the thief had run up a bill at a motel in Renton.

P-Patch home to homeless man

A homeless man decided to take up residence in a cottage at the Interbay P-Patch in recent weeks. He was living there with his laptop computer, sleeping bag and prescription medications. Witnesses detained the man while they waited for the police to arrive. After several hours of waiting, they let the suspect go. The only thing missing was $10 to $20 from the garden's donation box.

Where's m[pr1]y Nikon?

After parking his car late one evening, a man put his Nikon digital camera on the back seat and covered it with his shirt. When he came back 40 minutes later, the rear window was smashed and the camera gone.
