Glen Lawton Gilberts

Died after fighting a long illness on September 29, 2007. Born January 18, 1929 in Seattle on Lawton Street in Magnolia. Glen lived many places in Western and Eastern Washington. He finally settled in Ballard living in the same house for 50 years.

Glen loved hunting and exploring the backcountry. He enjoyed the area around Lake Joy and built the families summer homes on the lake. Glen served during the Korean Conflict at the invitation of President Truman as an MP and then pursued a career with the Seattle Police Department from 1953-1983. He was a Past Master of Doric Masonic Lodge in Seattle and volunteered with his faithful bloodhound JJ for Northwest Search and Rescue.

He leaves his loving wife of 50 years, Valerie, and family; son Wayne of Seattle, daughter Nancy (Robert) Farrell of Edmonds. Grandchildren, Cindy Farrell of Mt. Lake Terrace, Tim Farrell of Edmonds, Eric Farrell of Shoreline and Great Grandson, William Bolding as well as many caring nieces, nephews and friends.

No services per Glens request. A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, October 28th at Occidental Masonic Lodge in Ballard 20th and Market from noon to 4 p.m.
