Bergen Place gets $4,375 grant

Monday, June 25, 2007

The city has announced a matching fund grant of $4,375 for Bergen Place Park Enhancement to go along with a pledge by Friends of Bergen Place Organization of $7,588.

This project proposes installation of six 25-foot flagpoles to display the nation's flag and the flags of the five Nordic countries and a natural stone marker on which to engrave the park name. These design elements will clearly identify the origins of Bergen Place Park and honor the community's heritage.

Four times a year, Small and Simple Project Fund Awards are given to groups committed to building a better community. Locally raised money, donated materials, and volunteer labor match the funding. The awards range from $1,105 to $15,000. Communities will match the city's $352,318 contribution with resources valued at $478,383.
