Colley earns Eagle rank

Lance Kyle Colley, 15, of Boy Scout Troop 392 in Normandy Park, will be honored at a special Eagle Scout ceremony on Sunday, Jan. 6, at 3 p.m. at John Knox Presbyterian Church.

The public is invited to attend as Colley, the son of Nancy and David Colley and a ninth-grade student at Mount Rainier High School, receives scouting's highest award.

Colley had to earn 21 merit badges, serve as a leader in his troop, and complete a major community service project.

His project involved building and installing a new bench in a newly created amphitheater at John Knox Church.

He also rebuilt an earlier Eagle project bench and refinished several more.

Colley has been a member of the troop for four years, quickly moving through the ranks. He has served as assistant senior patrol leader, quartermaster and patrol leader.

A freshman at Mount Rainier High School, he is in the Honors program. He plays soccer and baseball, skis and fishes.

Mountain climbing is a passion for Colley. He and his dad reached the summit of Mount Rainier in August.
